request... Hi Little Guy, we called you Carpet Top or CT due to the color markings of the fur on your back. It has black, orange, yeloow patches much like a carpet top. your whole body was off white while your head was black. We only knew you for the last 10 days - but they have been one of the nicest and worrisome 10 days. You were so small for your age due to malnutrition - I wanted so much to cuddle you and save you but it was not to be. You were always at your mother's side no matter where she went. You had a hard time navigating around our yard of weeds - it must have seemed like a mountain to your little feet. I checked on you every morning to make sure that you were ok along with your siblings Albie3 and Blackie 2. I think you had 2 grey siblings that passed away last week. Uncle Ben and I loved you so much - he was always checking up on you. It was your Uncle Ben who found you and we both cried because we had hoped that you would make it. This thought never ocured to me when you were here, it is only when you were gone that I realized this irony. Your kindness and tender touch will always be remembered, you would lick my toes so gently or nuzzel the back of my knee as you walked by just letting me know that you were there. Your big brown eyes full of love and tireless devotion will always be felt by all of the lives you touched. There are so many people who ask about you and remember you fondly, and when we tell them that you have passed over the rainbow bridge into enlightnement they are honored for having known you and your strength,courage and gentlness. You were a devine being in a dogs body this time round and I love knowing that you were a dolphin in a prior lifetime, how fun was that! I always felt that you were a gift from god, but now that you have passed on, I know for sure. I am grateful for the time we shared together and your pawprints will be on my heart forever. You took the time to smell everything, you walked to the edge of the cliff with David to see your Pacific Ocean. The way you tenderly ate your roast beef and seemed to savor every last morsel. The way you laid down with us on your bed and listened to me play the piano for you boys. Your spirit will always live on in all of the people and animals hearts you have touched in your liftime and there have been so many. I am wishing you peace and sacredness in your afterlife. Ollie was much beloved and his absence is making life out of doors unbearable, but I am trying to work through this. request... Justin was the best pet rabbit I ever had pleasure of raising. He was an Albino Rabbit. He had red eyes, he had white ears, mixed with a lil' black coloring in the upper inside of his ears. And he had a pink nose. He also had long nails, but we had 'em shorten medium size. Even though he couldn't talk, I considered him someone I could come and just talk to. He would just listen to my problems, without judgment that I would get from some people. When He died suddenly on 2/5/04, at the tender age of 5 I was heartbroken. But I felt bad that I was at school, when his death occured. But what made it worst was that, during that day I told my mom that we should take him to the vet because he hasn't been there in a while. And I think to myself all of the time that if we had hust gone to the vet that day or atleast sooner then they could have found what was wrong with him from the beginning. But I know that he is in a better place now, where theirs no pain and suffering. But the thing about Justin was that he was more than just a pet. He was a member of the family, and a confidant. I call him my spare cat because I always considered him my charge, even though he was feral, and would tell people when they asked how may cats I had "Four and one to spare." Spare became Sperry and evolved to Sperry MacDougall. He resisted all efforts to be tamed and evaded all my attempts to catch him for vet care and neutering. Being the ladies' man that he was, he brought many of his girlfriends to me. (all were pregnant and all are now part of my household) I believe that he knew that I would feed them and take care of them in a way that he could not. He knew to come to me when he was ill or hurt. He ate the food that had medicine in it without hesitation. He rested in the box I set up for him. He knew the heating pad would be in his blanket when it got cold. He knew when dinnertime was. He talked to me and told me of his adventures, although anyone who didn't know our history together might think he was fussing at me instead of chatting about what happened to him the night before. He was scruffy and torn but he was the handsomest fellow I ever knew. He visited me often and allowed me to imagine that he was my spare cat for over 10 years. Since I have not seen him since March, I must assume that he has finally used up the last of his nine lives and has gone on to a happier and kinder place. I do hope that when I come to that bridge myself, Sperry MacDougall will be there and will walk along with me. Well met, MacDougall.

You were all so small - just like litte furballs. I worried about the raccoons getting to you but BM was vigilant and never you any of you out of her sight. We remembered how you would look in and cocked your head from side to side, playing chase with you brother Elgee and sis Blackie Chan, trying to make yourself comfortable on top of the carton, and how we couldn't tell you apart from your brother Elgee until just a few weeks ago. I was so excited yesterday that you were coming home after being at the vet since 11/1/04 and now YOU ARE GONE from me in this earthly life and I just want to die too. request... We just wanted all our family and friends to know that last night at 8:15, Thelma left us. She was such a glorious and proud dog, and left us in the same way, in our arms, Troy and myself holding her tightly, as we have done all these years, and showering her with kisses and cries of anguish. We both loved that dog as our daughter, as all of you know, and its hard to just bring ourselves up to a level we can just function. But the memories of her will live forever in hearts, and the smell of her brow is still fresh in my nose. She was everything that we wanted in a dog, and Thank You God that you entrusted us to take care of such a wonderful animal. I don't know if all of you know the story, but briefly Thelma was a pound dog. Troy found her on her last day up for adoption. It was 4pm when I arrived at animal control after Troy calling me. I found them sitting in the enclosed grass areas at Animal Control. I sat down and Themla came over to me and sat right between my legs and leaned her head on my chest and looked into my eyes. I fell in love right there, that instant. She was filty, 38 pounds and had been abused (we found out years later after we got an x-ray that her little body was riddled with buckshot) we took her home that night and wrapped a luggage tag around her neck, because we had no collar for her. The reason I am telling this story, is that she knew , all these years, that when we took her away from there, she knew it was her last day. She never forgot it. She never failed to Thank us everyday with her cheery disposition and well manners. She let us know daily how much she loved us. 13 years she slept with us in that bed. 13 years we have awoken every morning to the sound of her steady breathing. 13 years have come and gone. We have lost our best friend. We miss our girl Thelma this morning, as we will for the rest of our lives. Brad & Troy

request... Gabby came to us during Hurricane Gabrielle in September of 2001, thus the name Gabriel or Gabby as we called him seemed appropriate. He was a sweet fun loving, instagating cat. He loved to terrorize all of our other cats and at times our 65 pound dog also. When it was time to fill the dog's bowl the dog didn't come but Gabby did. He loved dog food and peanut butter. If I had a piece of toast with pb on it Gabby would come alon and lick all the pb off of it. Gabby was a white cat with a black tail he had a small spot of black on his nose which always made me think he had dirt on his nose. He also had a large black circle on his back & on his ear. He loved to play with anything. he would pick a tennis ball up and carry it around growling while he did it. He sat in your lap at dinner time and would ofter try to sneak his little paw up over your plate to see what he could take off of it. We had this old yellow blanket that was Gabby's favorite resting spot. at times he would even suckle it, we think this was because he was taken away from his mother to early (we got him at just 6 weeks old). Sadly in January of 2002 we had to rush Gabby to the emergency vet some one had accidentaly stepped on him, he was ok thank God but we did learn that he had a heart murmur or cardial myopathy. and their was to be no cure. the vet assured us we would get at least 7 years out of him. But it wasn't to be. In November of 2002 Gabby started to go down hill. He was taken back to the vet and put on more medication I think at this time he was on 4 different daily medications. The only way we could get him to eat was to feed him human baby food. He seemed to be getting better, even wanting to go out on our screened porch to soak up some sunshine. Then on December 12, 2002 at around 11:40 AM Gabby died. He died on the hallway floor next to the hamster cage where his friend Rainy lived and across from his favorite room, the bathroom. I cried a river of tears when I lost Gabby, I think it was a week before I could composs myself to think. We had to wait 2 days to bury him due to heavy rains. We buried him in the flower garden right next to the porch that he had loved so much in life. I will never stop missing Gabby no matter how long I may live, he is never far from my mind and thoughts and he is still very much loved and missed everyday. request... WINNER'S NEW DAWN, MY GOLDEN PALOMINO By Wanda Lambert, Griffin, Georgia I will try to make a story of eighteen years as short as possible. I brought my filly - Winner's New Dawn - home when she was weaned from her mother. So many very good times sitting out at the barn, talking to her and just being with her. We showed at halter and showmanship for two years. At the horse shows she never gave me any problems. She seemed to have a good time, but didn't want to be with other horses. She was happiest with just me and my husband. Then at three years old, Dawn foundered. We had to watch her weight as closely as we could. We had more good days than bad. She was my pet, so not being able to ride her didn't matter to me. She was forever looking at the back door, to see if she could see me. No matter where I was, she would find me. She always said hello, every time she saw me in the pasture or stall. She always greeted me. She let me know when she wanted out, and she would go to the gate and tell me when she wanted back in her stall. One time she was in the pasture, and so was I. A strange dog came in, and I guess she thought he would hurt me. She came running from the far side of the pasture, right beside me, to chase that dog out. Dawn seemed to know what I was thinking. If I was brushing the other horses, I would say to her, "Well, what do you think?" And she would look up as if to say, "Good job, Mom." I watched Dawn so closely, paying attention to her weight, feet, and her diet. In 2000, she starting showing signs of getting worse. I called the vets to come out. They x-rayed her hooves as they had done so many times. They said she had two options: cut the deep fexlor tenions or be put down. We cut her tenions. For a year. she was doing so well. Then one morning, I went out to feed her. and Dawn was shaking while laying down. I called the vet, then my husband, my daughter, and best friend. They all came over to be with me. My husband rented a back hoe to dig our angel her resting place, because he said that Dawn was too much a lady to be thrown in the ground. My vet waited until we got through with her grave, then she came out. My husband told my friend to take me home with her. He didn't want me to see her when the vet put her down. He knew it would be the end for me as well. My vet gave Dawn a shot in her legs so she could stand up an walk. My daughter said that when my husband had to put the halter on Dawn to walk her out of the barn to her final resting place, he fell to pieces. They walked Dawn toward her grave, letting her eat, and doing whatever she wanted. She walked right into her grave. My daughter said, "Dawn looked at my husband as if to say, "You can say good-bye now." It looked to my daughter as if there was a ray of sunshine in Dawn's face. When the vet gave Dawn that last shot, my husband and her helped our golden Palomino lie down. The vet told my husband that Dawn was asleep now. When my husband got everything done at her grave, he told me later, that he saw Dawn while walking back to the barn. She was in the pasture, eating the Bermada grass. I know Dawn let him see her just to tell him that he did the right thing an staying with her till the end. All of my vets said that Dawn was not my horse; she was my child. They knew of no other horse who had lived with this disease, which was chronic founder, as long as she survived. They said my care and the love we had for each other, kept Dawn alive for so long. Dawn had more good days than bad and she told the both of us when it was time to say good-bye.On this horrible day,i cut a piece of my hair an tied it to her mane so we would always be as one. I can say, back then, I had it all.   This kind of companionship comes around once in your life. I am almost fifty-six years old and I will probably never have another like her. She was truly one of a kind. As for me, my heart will never stop breaking. I will love and miss Dawn until I die. So I say, one more time, as I did every night, "Nite-nite, Dawn Dawn. All I recall is that me and my lovely wife went out for the mail and we saw our beautiful Lex lying bloody in our roadside trash bin. It was horrid. My wife took it much better than I did. After 16 years and seven months of dedicated love companionship my angel "Toby" passed away in my arms as I held him close to my heart and kissed his little brown head and told him "I loved him" and that "I'm right here buddy" Wrapped in a towel I felt his lift cease as we drove. Tobys favorite place was driving in the car and I only felt it would be a fitting tribute that he pass away on his terms, in what I thought were his wishes. I love this little man who was humanlike unlike any animal I have ever met or became friends with. I was Toby's friend and companion and he was all that to me. I will miss him dearly and truly hope he an angel in heaven with my family members and his.

request... My loving companion of the last 11 years passed away this morning at 8:15. May 18, 2004. She became ill 5 days ago. I thought that she might have gotten ahold of a bad bird or something, but she steadily grew worse till she was too weak to stand or do anything but lay at her water bowl. I could see that she was in great pain, and I am heartbroken over the decision to put her to sleep. She had to be loaded into the car for the trip,( my, how she loved to take rides)as she was too weak to walk or stand. I was with her at the end. I pray to the Dear Lord that there IS a place for animals in heaven. Am having a very hard time with this as she was such a big part of my world. No longer will I be greeted at the fence after work, or look out the window to see her laying in the shade of the tree. She was a very large (160lb)Long-Haired German Sheppard. Didn't have a mean bone in her body. Even as she got older and her hips grew worse, she would take to growling a little or maybe would even woof at you, but, she would always welcome you into her domain. All she ever asked in return was a pat on the head and a kind word. Nerak, you were the most loving animal I ever had the pleasure to meet. You will be GREATLY Missed. request... My sweet girl passed just lastnight at 10:45 pm pst. I miss her so much it hurts. God please help my girl on her journey. She will be accompanied by mum. sweet furkids Athena, Cybil and Cookie that passed 6 months ago. My heart is very heavy. Lord please hear my prayer.

Many homeless, abused/neglected rabbits will be saved because of you - because you came into my life and taught me so much about you silent, deep creatures. Stay in my heart, baby girl. request... You brought so much love into my life, and I miss you so much. I miss your attitude, your bootiful eyes and your furry body lying beside me when I sleep at night. It has been almost 10 months since you left and I miss you just as much now as the day you passed. Tinker misses you too. request... Mike was a loving creature, and he was also a very special part of our family. He was silly, and you could always find him napping under the cover of a blanket, or by the heater. He also loved to play with my nephew,(2) who laughed when he chased him around the house. He will be missed, and always thought of. We love you michael, and will see your goofy butt in heaven!
